Bateleur Eco Safaris is situated in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, which is part of the Greater Kruger National Park in Limpopo Province in South Africa, an area best known for its variety of birds, insects, plants and animals, including the Big 5. Bateleur is an environmentally friendly tented bush camp that offers guests a different twist on the African bush experience. Guests are given the chance to explore and discover this unspoiled wildlife paradise the way nature intended it to be seen, all the while employing eco friendly practices. There is no electricity at the camp. Gas, battery, paraffin and solar power are used.

With over 8500 hectares of bushveld to explore, the camp offers early morning walks with experienced rangers. Guests are also given the chance to try their hand at the art of tracking, passed down from one generation to another by the Shangaan people. The camp offers a Bush Craft and Survival Course’s, and activities include how to start a fire, how to move fire from one location to another, rope making, pottery, the use of indigenous plants in food and medicine. Guests are also taken on game drives each day. This gives them the ideal chance to sit back relax and take in the wonders of the reserve. There is a pool surrounded by a wooden deck, which provides guests with the perfect way to escape the hot African sun.

Accommodation

The Bateleur Eco Safari Camp has 10 East African Safari tents, set up along the riverbed under the mighty Apple Leaf, Jackalberry and Tamboti trees. The tents are comfortably furnished. 3 of the tents have en-suite bathrooms, and the remainder will be fitted with en-suite bathrooms next year. There are separate ablution facilities for the remainder of the tents, with wash basins and open air wood fuelled showers.

Catering

Breakfast is a hearty home cooked meal, as is lunch. Dinner is served around the camp fire in the open air boma. All meals inclusive.
